The What to Say Halloween Challenge

Halloween Pledge for Website 3

At WithAll, we know that Halloween can sometimes be really scary for our body image and relationship with food. With all the candy and costumes, it can be challenging not to intertwine Halloween with diet culture! That’s why we’re challenging you to ditch the diet and weight talk this season and focus on enjoying Halloween.

Introducing… the What to Say Halloween Challenge!

This October, we want to combat diet culture by focusing on the things we love about Halloween! So, we’ve created our first social media challenge of 2022: the What to Say Halloween Challenge. If there’s something you’re doing to enjoy Halloween this year, we want to hear about it! Whether it’s eating your favorite candy or wearing a costume just because you like the character, there are so many things you can do to enjoy this season. Plus, all who join in on the challenge will be entered into a drawing for a fun prize.

Here’s how you can participate:

We’re hosting this challenge on multiple social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram. If you’re on any or all of these platforms, we would love for you to join the Challenge! To participate, all you have to do is share our post, use #WTSHalloweenChallenge, and let us know what ONE thing you’re doing to enjoy Halloween this year. Don’t forget to tag us!

Please see below for specific guidelines for participating on each social media platform:

If you’re participating on Facebook, you can join the Challenge by sharing our post about the Halloween Challenge. In your share, tell us what you’re doing to enjoy Halloween, use #WTSHalloweenChallenge, and tag us!

If you’re participating on Twitter, you can join the Challenge by quote retweeting our tweet about the Halloween Challenge. Mention the one thing you’re doing to enjoy Halloween and use #WTSHalloweenChallenge.

If you’re participating on TikTok, you can join the Challenge by stitching our Challenge video into your own original video. In your video, tell us what you’re doing to enjoy Halloween this season. Make sure to use #WTSHalloweenChallenge and tag us!

If you’re participating on Instagram, you can join the Challenge by sharing our Halloween Challenge reel to your stories. Make sure to put #WTSHalloweenChallenge in your story and use text to tell us what you’re doing to make Halloween fun this year. Don’t forget to tag us!

We’re so excited to see everything you’re doing to ditch diet culture this Halloween season and instead have a great time! Please feel free to reach out to hello@withall.org if you have any questions about participating in the Challenge. Happy Halloween!

WithAll is committed to helping children and their families navigate healthier discussions about food and body. That’s why our What to Say initiative created a Halloween Guide featuring these tips, as well as research-backed insights and advice from parenting and nutrition experts who have been in your shoes.

And remember: these principles apply beyond just Halloween! Whether it’s about candy, cake, sugar, or any other food item that can be enjoyed in moderation, the way adults choose to talk to kids or around kids has a real impact – each and every day.
